Q: Value of 1981 Pontiac Phoenix?
What is the value of a 1981 Pontiac Phoenix 4 door (similar to the Chevrolet Citation)? It is a 2 owner vehicle, body/interior is in very good condition and it runs/drives great.
It has a 2.8 Liter V6 engine, automatic tranny and air conditioning.
A: Put this clunker up for sale for any price you can get and then start praying.....the Phoenix and the sister Chevy Citation were horrid junks GM put out....their reputations are horrendous for quality overall...sort of like the Chevy Vega and Chevette....Take anything you can get and start smiling.
Q: Phoenix Center, Pontiac, MI --> can I park my car overnight?
Is there somewhere around the Phoenix Center in Pontiac where I can park my car safely overnight, even for a small fee? Or would it be better to be dropped off at the center, no car involved?
The Phoenix Center is also where a bunch of Smart Bus routes start, thats why I'm asking from there.
A: The Phoenix Center is a parking garage with a ampitheater on top and some offices added on to it, so I'm not too sure what you are asking.
Yes, you can park your car in a parking garage.
No, parking in Pontiac is dangerous.
I think both answers could be correct depending on the age and condition of your car, the time of year and where inside the Phoenix Center you were planning on parking.
But my main question is, you do know that the Phoenix Center is mainly a parking garage.
Q: how do u change the brake pads on a pontiac phoenix?
A: Remember Safety First! Work in a warm place if possible;on a level surface.Put blocks in front and in back of the rear tires to prevent it from rolling. Use a 4 way or an impact to break the lugnuts loose. Use a Proper Floorjack and jack up on the cars frame in the front and use safety stanids aka Jackstands on both sides in the front under the frame and lower the car slowly onto them. Wiggle the car to make sure its securely on the stands. Leave the jack under the car as a secondary safety.
Remove the lugnutz and wheels, you will need an allenhead socket, or allenwrench and a socket set to remove the two bolts that hold the calipers on. use a mallet or hammer to tap the caliper so it can be removed. Use a coathanger, zipties or mechanics wire and wire the caliper up out of the way. DO NOT LET IT DANGLE BY THE BRAKE HOSE!
Use the old brakepad on the piston side and a c-clamp and slowly tighten the c-clamp until the piston is 99.9% back in its bore. Make sure BEFORE you do this you open the master cylinder and if its full, use a turkey baster or other sucking tool to remove 1/2 of the fluid from the section that supplies the front brakes. When the piston moves back in it the fluid goes back to the master and if it overflows it eats paint and makes a mess.
Clean the caliper slides with a wire brush and use a SMALL coating of never seize to keep the calipers moving properly.
Coat the back of each brakpad with disc brake quiet; comes in a tube or bottle. Install the inboard and outboard pad and reinstall the caliper tightening the bolts until they are snug and should be torqued to spec. Spray the assembly with brake cleaner to remove any grease, oil and greasy fingerprints fom the rotors.
Reinstall the tire and lug nuts.
Repeat the above procedure on the other side. When the car is back on the ground; make sure you refill the master cylinder and recap it securely and torque all 10 luguts to spec and double check them.
Get in the car and slowly depress the brake pedal until you have a firm pedal; this takes up the clearance between the new pads and rotors.
Follow the break in instructions for te brakepads. Test your brakes at a very slow speed to make sure everything is working as it should. They will smell funny for about 50-100 miles as the chemicals used in manufacturing them dissapate and give off that smell. Go to Advance or ebay and buy a repair manual for your car; all this and more is covered in the book. Good Luck!
Q: 1981 Pontiac Phoenix Value?
My son has this Phoenix and would like to know the value of it. I can not seem to find it on any web sites and we have only seen one other like it owned by an older gentleman. This car I would say is in excellent condition and all original. It has been garaged in the winters and one previous owner who bought it new. I am just wondering since we do not see many of these and people comment on the beauty of the car all the time. It runs perfectly and has I think 118,000 mi.
Any place I can look or call in the US would be helpful. I just don't find any for sale.
Thanks in advance for any answers.
A: Kids, don't ya just love them for their being "Know it all's about what they know nothing"!The Phoenix and the Chevy Citation rolled down the same assembly line in OK City, OK. N.A.D.A. only goes back about 10 yrs or so. What you have is a low mi. car, limited production and depending on the options(air, pwr st,pwr wdws, pwr brk,pwr st. pwr sts.st. radio with cassette) should sell for what it stickered which is around $7500-$8500. I have seen a few at ar shows in SE Oh and Knoxville Tenn. as well as NE OH sell for this. GM,s X car. Well ahead of its time. I think if I were you I would keep it for a few more yrs and keep it immaculate as it is as good as money in the bank on a well paying mutual fund
Q: If anyone has herd of the 1978 Pontiac Phoenix if so answer these questions?
What kind of stereo system and speakers should i have
Where can i get parts(in alberta perferable)
Do you like this modle
A: That's a fancied up Nova. GM sold it as an economy compact in the late 70's (that was a BIG compact). As far as speakers go, you've got a lot of room to cut out and install big uns if that's your thing.
I would think parts should not be a problem. GM churned out many of the same components for years after this car was made.
As far as you last question. No. GM intentionally uglified and cheapified this line of cars so that it wouldn't compete with the pricier LeMans/Malibu lines. I've also heard there's a rare problem with the rear axles breaking loose - BUT I can't confirm that one.
Still, there's a whole lot of people out there that love their old Novas.
Q: Some of the worst cars ever made?
What are some of the worst cars ever made in the automotive history? My choices are the Yugos, VW Dasher's, the 80's X body cars (Chevrolet Citation, Pontiac Phoenix, Buick Skylark and Oldsmobile Omega), Ford Pinto, Chevrolet Vega and AMC Pacer.
A: I've forgotten all about the Cadillac 6-8-4 V8 engine, those were terrible engines, remember the crappy GM Diesel engines of the late 70's/early 80's, those were awful engines.
Mercury Capri, Ford Mustang II, almost any American car made from 1974-85.

Q: Driving to Idaho falls from Phoenix Az.?
We are planning on driving up there soon from the 31 to the 4th and i need to know if it is a bad idea because of weather conditions. we will be driving a pontiac grand am, but we can always rent an suv, please help.
A: I-86 between Utah & Idaho has been closed several times lately. In Boise we have had quite a bit of snow also, third most on record I think. Even if you rent an SUV the ISP/Utah Hwy Patrol may not allow you or anyone to travel. I suggest you reconsider driving as you may be stuck in Utah. I suppose you could try a different route but that will make for a much longer trip. I think Boise has had 19 inches in December.
Q: Me power steering has been going out, at least twice a week, Need help.?
I own a 2007 Pontiac G5 and the power steering keeps going out. I use to live in arkansas but moved to phoenix, where it started to happen, and its driving me crazy. My manual says to bring into my dealership but again its in arkansas. Can i brink it to any pontiac place? Or does anyone know how to fix it?
It doesnt take fluid, i have already looked
A: it's probably best to have it looked at if you cannot determine if it is leaking fluid. it would be numerous things.
pump, assist, pinion gear. etc..

Q: Are "Buzzwords" universal or subjective? What are yours?
I am wondering if words which cause very strong emotional response in one person may not do so at all in somebody else.
The car industry has, for decades, tried to find model names which sound right, so that buyers take a liking to the vehicle even from hearing the name.
I'm not sure if this really works though. The following are my personal buzz words, they make me happy. How about yours?

Q: Help Identifying Mid-to-Late 80s car?
My dad bought a used car back in 1994 really cheap. It had a green and white factory paint job( it came like this from the factory). It was a two door coupe with 6 cylinders, RWD, and an automatic transmission. My dad (who doesn't know much about car makes and models) thinks it was a Pontiac, maybe a Phoenix. After looking at a picture he had I think it looks like a 1985-1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass of some sort. My question is did any Cutlass come from the factory with a two tone paint job like this one? And if not what car could this be? I would appreciate any help and in advance would like to say Thanks for any answers I receive.
A: Very Vague Question but, I've got a Vague Answer. General Motors had many 2 tone cars. If you are thinking it looks like a Cutlass, it could be any one of GM's 78-87 G-bodied cars, the Monte Carlo, the Cutlass, the Buick Regal, and the Pontiac Grand Prix.
Q: how much is the average price of a 1978 trans am in fair/poor condition?

If any body could tell me how much its worth that would be great!
Best regards,
Rob
A: I keep getting that the Trans Am that you are looking for at the lowest retail price (used) is around $7,000-$9,000
Id say it is a good deal but try looking it up for yourself because I don't know the details of this car and this is as far as I can help you with.
Try the site listed in my source. Nadaguides.com, go to classic cars on the top, then go to get prices in the sub tab...from their I clicked on sports car.
Hope I helped if the source doesn't work.
